How to File

Even if you are already making money from your business, as long as you file within the year you accepted your fist dollar, all your expenses can be counted. (check validity of this, list reference site). Start by going to your County Clerk to file an DBA/Assumed Name Certificate. It’s about $25 and you might be able to do it online. Select Sole proprietor; this basically means that you can mix it with your personal accounting and not be penalized. You’re the Owner and your Home Address is your business address, unless you’re already using a space that isn’t your home.
